As the Voice While a bunch of voiceover talent name themselves as “Voice of this”..the Voice, I decide to ditch that title and go by @femibakes which happens to always be a conversation starter everytime (when next you see me, ask me I’ll tell you). But there’s also a follow up question “So what do you bake?” Simply put, I bake stories to perfection. You can call them audio cakes. From commercials, to narrations, audiobooks, E learning, interactive voice responses, every story is unique and treated as such. Truth is, I don’t see myself as a “Voiceover Talent” but a brand ambassador with the superpower of empathy, to really understand how the brand can communicate with its audience. Like “What is the story about? Who is the tartest audience? How does the brand want to make their audience feel? What corresponding action would you want the audience to take after watching or listening to the story?” These are some of the questions I ask myself to be able to create great enough context around the story before delivering it in the most conversational and relatable way possible. To be honest, my process / approach is quite intense and different from others, giving a 90 percent brand satisfaction because the remaining 10 percent is for God.
In 2023, I was privileged to collaborate with the pocket app (a sister company to the piggy best app) to create an awareness campaign to launch and introduce the app into a new market. Pocket is a payment app that makes receiving and managing money feel like a breeze. In a sea of competitor, this ad received heavy rotation on the big brother naija show(the biggest reality tv show in Nigeria) and experienced a 8900 percent increase in app downloads, up from 20,000 downloads at the start of the Big Brother Naija Season 6 show to 1.8 million app downloads by the end of the show. The ad was definitely a fire runner in introducing the app to Africa and I was bribiledge to be a mouthpiece on that ad.
Business Day
Another is the collaboration with GTCO for the GTfood and drink festival which happened between the 26th and 28th of April. An amazing culinary event showcases a fantastic variety of businesses offering delicious food items, all eager to share their passion with a diverse and sophisticated audience. I was privileged to be a part of putting the messaging out, which ran on tv, socials, streaming platforms as well as radio and gathered over 7.5million views accross social media platforms.
Some other delighted clients include FCMB, BBB sounds, cowrywise, DSTV, Coca-Cola, Plural Code Academy, Stanbic IBTC, Ajinomoto, the world bank, leadway assurance, to mention but a few.
In 2023, I was awarded the voiceover artist of the year by APVA, and was nominated for the SOVAS awards in 2023 for Best African Voiceover for outstanding commercial for radio or web.
